I recently spent a few days exploring the magical Santa Elena Cloud Forest in Costa Rica. Despite having a broken toe, I absolutely had to drag some lights into the forest to take these pictures of the remarkable flora. Just look at the place.

My Broad Channel Project is an effort to discover and photograph the huge variety and simple beauty of the expansive human activity going on at one of New York City’s many public spaces over the course of a year. I have chosen the nameless beach on the northern end of Broad Channel Island in Queens as the location for this study.
