I was asked to shoot painter Marc Dennis for his profile in Dirty Magazine. Marc is inspired by and does much of his sketching at The American Museum Of Natural History in New York City. I shot him sketching in the back rooms of the etomology department, and then did portraits in the Hall Of […]

My boyfriend and I were vacationing in St. Martin’s when Hurricane Earl, a category 3 storm, hit the island. It was rather terrifying at first, but once we realized that the roof wasn’t going to blow off, we were able to appreciate the amazing power of the storm. Fortunately, the island didn’t sustain very heavy […]

I was asked by East Village Boys to photograph Justin Bond’s very intimate, very beautiful, very powerful performance at Matthu Placek’s most recent salon. The event took place on a balmy August night on Matthu’s rooftop garden in the east village.

I shot the incredible painter and t-shirt artist, Scooter LaForge, for his interview in the recently launched Dirty Magazine.

I recently spent a few days exploring the magical Santa Elena Cloud Forest in Costa Rica. Despite having a broken toe, I absolutely had to drag some lights into the forest to take these pictures of the remarkable flora. Just look at the place.

I set up a temporary portrait studio at the BLVCK AMERICA’S ‘BLVCK IS THE NEW BLACK’ Chinatown loft party last week. Party goers had a variety of outfit enhancers to choose from to make their precious moments shine. Special thanks to Luisa Opalesky for her mad styling assistance.

I shot Jeffrey Self and Cole Escola in a series of vignettes to go along with their interview on East Village Boys. Read the very amusing interview here. See Jeffrey + Cole’s hysterical TV show, Jeffery & Cole Casserole, here.

Shared memories. Childhood obsessions.

An exhibition of my photographs titled, Natural Order, will be on display from June, 5 – August 26 at Hudson Beach Glass Philadelphia, a gallery in Old City, Philadelphia.
The photographs in the exhibition are about the complex, tenuous, and often contradictory relationships people have with the natural world. They express our fear of elemental chaos, alienation from nature, and our attempts to protect ourselves and put ourselves above the natural order. However, these images also reveal our fascination with natural beauty and wildness, and our reverence for the immutable forces of our planet.

My Grandparents live in West Palm Beach, Florida and I visit them there usually two or three times a year. I find it a fascinating place to take pictures. The area is very unusual. It’s a waspy jet-set destination, a Jewish retirement mecca, and an urban wasteland depending on what block you’re on.

I went to India this past February where two of my friends got married on Valentine’s Day in Ahmedabad. In the pictures, they are the man in the red turban and the woman in the green sari, not this other loving couple seen wearing his and hers bikinis on the beach in Goa.

Kathmandu is definitely the most visceral place I’ve ever visited. I was there for just a few days this winter when I was traveling around India. It’s extremely busy, smelly and dirty. However, I tried to find and photograph the quiet moments of peace and beauty amidst the filth and chaos.

I traveled to Egypt this winter and journeyed by boat up the Nile River. In addition to all the amazing, monumental historical sites, I also photographed the landscapes that drifted by as our boat cruised at around 12 knots. The smoke from the burning fields, and the dust blowing in from the desert filter the […]

For the last two years, I’ve been living in an apartment on the northern end of 4th avenue in Brooklyn. Upon moving in, I was immediately impressed with how remarkably raw and harsh the street is. If you’ve never experienced it, it’s a 7 mile or so strip of boulevard that runs from Downtown Brooklyn […]

I photographed this wedding at dusk at the Boathouse in Prospect Park. The couple asked the guests to wear only black or white, and grew most of the plants they used as floral arrangement themselves. They came to me to create unusual and dramatic photos of their unique wedding. If you would like me to […]
