Jaime Verazin is a professional dancer who lives and performs in New York City. I met Jaime after watching her perform with “Studies In Feedback” at the Scope art fair last month. We instantly connected and I knew I wanted to photograph her.
For our shoot, I met her at Lincoln Center where she recently performed two seasons with the Metropolitan Opera in Aida, Les Contes de Hoffmann, and Armida, in which she performed a non vocal lead role, Love. I then followed her to the Union Square farmers market where she wanted to pick up some new flowers to plant in her garden with the help of her boyfriend, Chris, and pooch, Button. In the afternoon, Jaime brought me to her rehearsal with choreographer Katherine Helen Fisher, where I photographed the pair as they developed a new piece that they will be performing together this fall at
Dance Space.
Jaime has performed dance and vocal lead roles in the Wizard of Oz, Cinderella and Godspell, and is an accomplished pianist. Jamie danced professionally with MOMIX, performing both nationally and internationally from 2004-2008. She is now freelancing in NYC with choreographers such as Mark Stuart, Mark Dendy, Catherine Miller, Adam Battelstein, and Katherine Helen Fisher.
