LEFT BEHIND

June 4, 2008

There was a brief period when the New York Times had mostly moved into it’s new building, but the old building was still open. A friend of mine who works for the Times took me on a tour of the now mostly vacant building. It was pretty interesting to see what had been left behind after everything important had been moved. We found lots of abandoned office equiptment and personal items, like the little Eiffel Tower and the Barbra Bush Christmas Card, but mostly we found grit and grime, and the wear and tear of running a 24 hour news operation for however long they’d been in that building.
