“The Fair” is a series I did in the summer of 2006 as an extension to my series “Quality Times”. This time I was interested in the ways people enjoy themselves at communal event. Having the opportunity to go to both a county fair in Michigan and a Renaissance fair in Upstate New York, I realized these two events would be similar enough for comparison, but also show an interesting contrast. I took these pictures at the Monroe County Fair in Monroe County, Michigan, and at The New York Renaissance Faire (sic) in Tuxedo, New York.
