    My friend, the artist Karen Azoulay, asked me to document her latest conceptual dinner party titled, Carnation Thunder. The event was held at Soho20 Gallery in Chelsea. Here’s how Karen describes the project:

    “CARNATION THUNDER is a fizzy meditation on fireworks and a smoldering sampler of effervescent sensations. This conceptual dinner party will delight you with a parade of dishes, each an interpretation of how the shimmering explosions in the sky might taste.”

    I set up a temporary portrait studio at the BLVCK AMERICA’S ‘BLVCK IS THE NEW BLACK’ Chinatown loft party last week. Party goers had a variety of outfit enhancers to choose from to make their precious moments shine. Special thanks to Luisa Opalesky for her mad styling assistance.

    I was recently asked by event promoter Nelly R to photograph this fashion event at the Chelsea night club, Cain, in New York City. How could I resist? Look at the looks. Look at the girls. Look at the faces in the audience.

    I photographed this wedding at dusk at the Boathouse in Prospect Park. The couple asked the guests to wear only black or white, and grew most of the plants they used as floral arrangement themselves.     I was asked by my friend Jesse and his dad, Uke Jackson, to photograph their annual ukulele festival, New York Ukefest 2008. Ukefest is “a four-day extravaganza of concerts, workshops, seminars and world-renowned ukulele vendors.”

    Just Like the dogs, the cats get to have their day at Madison Square garden too. Unlike the dogs however, who get to show on the main floor of the arena, the cats are relegated to a slice of one of those really wide circular corridors you walk through when you’re trying to find your seats. The spatial constraints, however, have no effect on the enthusiasm of the owners or the spectators.
